Short answer: For a typical Libyan villa, use one motion sensor solar light every 4โ€“6 m along boundary walls. Use at least one high-output light (1000โ€“1500 lumens on detection) for the garage or car porch, and one at each gate and door. Set the sensor to "dim + motion" so the property is never fully dark but the battery lasts all night.

How a solar motion sensor light works

The solar panel charges a lithium battery during the day. At dusk, a light sensor switches the lamp into night mode. A PIR (passive infrared) sensor detects the body heat of a person or a warm car engine moving across its field of view, and the light jumps to full brightness for a set time.

Because the LEDs run at full power only for short periods, even a compact battery can protect a wall all night.

How many lumens do you need?

AreaSuggested brightness on detection
Path, side passage200โ€“500 lm
Front door, gate pillar500โ€“1000 lm
Boundary wall section700โ€“1200 lm
Garage, car porch, back yard1000โ€“1500+ lm

The Lalogo 112-LED solar security light reaches up to 1500 lumens when it detects motion. That covers every row in this table.

Detection range and angle

Look at two numbers: range (how far away movement is detected) and angle (how wide the coverage is). Our wall light detects motion at 5โ€“8 m across a 150ยฐ angle. Mounted at about 2โ€“2.5 m, one unit covers roughly a 6โ€“8 m stretch of wall or a single car bay.

  • Mount sensors at 2โ€“3 m height for the best detection.
  • Avoid pointing sensors at public roads, where passing cars cause false triggers.
  • Remember that PIR detects movement across its view better than straight towards it.

Which lighting mode should you use?

  • Dim + motion: a soft glow all night, full brightness on detection. Best for gates, doors and walls.
  • Off + motion: fully dark until triggered. Longest battery life, best for side passages and service areas.
  • Constant dim: decorative glow without the sensor.

Planning example: a 4-bedroom villa

  • 2 lights on the main gate pillars
  • 1 over the front door
  • 2 in the car porch or garage
  • 4โ€“6 along the boundary walls, depending on plot size
  • 1 at the back gate or service entrance

That comes to about 10โ€“12 solar security lights, with no cabling and no electricity cost. For larger projects or compounds, ask us for project pricing.

Frequently asked questions

Will a cat or bird trigger the light?

Small animals can occasionally trigger PIR sensors at close range. Mounting the light a little higher and angling it slightly down reduces false triggers.

Do motion sensor lights work on hot Libyan summer nights?

Yes. PIR sensors detect the difference between a person's body temperature and the background. On very hot nights the difference is smaller, so the detection range can shorten a little. Place lights where people pass within a few metres.
